Club v. County row continues

August 07, 2014
The issue of county players playing club championship football during the All-Ireland series has once again erupted in Mayo.

At a recent county board meeting, Mayo manager James Horan was accused of not allowing Kevin McLoughlin play for his club Knockmore in their final group game of the county SFC.

Knockmore subsequently lost the game to Garrymore. The county board received letters from both the Knockmore and Aghamore clubs alleging that Horan had told certain county players not to line out with their clubs.

Club delegates expressed their outrage at this, but the county board stated that McLoughlin was the only player not to line out for his club.
