Gavin Duffy made a winning debut for Salthill /Knocknacarra in the Galway SFC yesterday.

The former Connacht rugby captain, who caused a stir when he joined the Mayo football panel in May, lined out at midfield as the Seasiders defeated Kilcony by 2-11 to 2-9 to get their championship campaign back on track. Duffy was an unused sub in Salthill's surprise first round loss to An Cheartru Rua.

Holders Corofin cruised to a 1-10 to 0-3 victory over Tuam Stars, with Mike Farragher scoring the only goal early in the second half. Kilkerrin-Clonberne - minus rising county star Shane Walsh - edged out local rivals Cortoon by 1-9 to 0-11, while St. Michael's sauntered to a 0-13 to 0-6 victory over Killererin.

Mountbellew-Moylough registered a 2-15 to 0-7 win over Menlough, Annaghdown defeated An Cheathru by 2-10 to 1-8, while Caherlistrane accounted for a Caltra on a 2-14 to 1-7 scoreline.
