Mayo allay O'Connor concerns

Mayo manager James Horan has insisted that Cillian O'Connor's leg injury isn't serious.

The Young Footballer of the Year, who missed a large chunk of last year's championship with a broken collarbone, was substituted after only nine minutes of yesterday's win over Derry at Elvery's MacHale Park, but Horan has assured supporters that his fellow Ballintubber clubman will be fit for next Sunday's Allianz League semi-final against the same opposition.

"It's nothing too major, just a small bit of a muscle spasm," the manager said.

While revealing that Chris Barrett and Alan Dillon are nearing a return to fitness after their respective injury layoffs, Horan expects next weekend's game to come too soon for them.
