Horan: we've a lot to work on

Mayo's performance against Derry failed to impress James Horan.

The Connacht champions endured some anxious moments in the second half before eventually overcoming a virtual second string Oak Leaf outfit to set up an Allianz League semi-final showdown with the same opposition next weekend.

"We got through today but we were very poor," the Mayo manager admitted.

"We let our standards and tempo drop a little bit. Derry had a goal chance in the second half to bring it to two points so we were lucky in the end, against a Derry team that were missing 14 of their regulars.

"So we've a huge amount of stuff to try and work on for next week."

Horan expects Derry to be a totally different proposition next Sunday.

"It won't be the same again, it'll be a very different Derry team. There are definitely things we need to improve on, but we're in a league semi-final, which is where we want to be."
