St Michaels Loreto Navan recored a comfortable victory over St Josephs of Foxford to claim the Tesco Homegrown Post Primary All Ireland Senior C football championship title in perfect conditions at Ardagh Longford.

With ten minutes gone the Navan girls held a 0-3 to 0-2 advantage before Kelsey Nesbitt scored the first goal of the game for Loreto. Josephs battled back with points from Mary McHale and Rebecca Langan. A goal and two points from Naoise DeGraaff along with points from Stacey Grimes and Hannah Heskin put the Navan girls 2-7 to 0-4 ahead with ten minutes remaining. Rebecca Langan narrowed the gap with a Foxford goal. The Mayo girls were down to 14 players for the remainder of the half when Stephanie Clarke was yellow carded and the Meath girls took advantage scoring 1-5 without reply to open up a 3-12 to 1-6 interval advantage.

Loreto sealed the game in the opening five minutes of the second half with goals from Grimes and Kelly Harris. The Navan defence limited the Foxford girls to five points in the second half, Rebecca Langan (1), Natasha Gaughan (2) and Fiona Doherty (2) while the Loreto fowards went on a goal frenzy. Eleanor Lane and Catriona pointed while a hatrick of goals from De Graaff and one each from Harris and Shauna Fitzgerald put the issue beyond doubt.

After the game the All Ireland PP Senior C Cup was presented to Loreto joint captains Aisling Cassidy and Kelly Harris while full foward Naoise DeGraaff picked up the player of the match award.
