Moyles relishing task in hand

Mayo junior manager Michael Moyles has no regrets in taking on the role.

The Connacht JFC was thrown into disarray last month when it was announced that Galway, Roscommon and Leitrim would not be fielding a team in this year's provincial championship.

This meant that just two counties, Mayo and Sligo were left to compete for the Connacht title, which they will do on Sunday afternoon.

Many feel that the junior championship has run its course and should be disbanded, but Moyles feels that it can benefit the county on a greater scale.

Speaking to the Western People he said: "I know there's a lot of people that would turn their nose up to it, but to me it was an opportunity to manage a county set up and it's Mayo at the end of the day.

"For any player who wants to play for Mayo and who wants to step up to senior, this is a good tester for them."
