James Horan is hopeful that Andy Moran and Alan Dillon will feature for Mayo in Sunday week's Connacht SFC first round clash with Galway.

Last year's captain Andy Moran is on his way back from a cruciate ligament injury, while Alan Dillon has only recently returned to action following a groin problem.

"As with every other team we have a few injuries, but we have guys getting very close. There is still a bit of time left for them, we will be selecting a team next Tuesday," the Mayo manager told the Irish Daily Star.

"They (Moran and Dillon) are back on the field and I'm sure they will be pushing as hard as they can. When guys get injured, other guys come in and play so that makes it hard for an injured guy to get back in.

"It has to be a management call. Any injured player's job is to make it as difficult for us as possible by pushing as hard as they can. That's exactly what they are doing. We will be sitting down as a management group and we will decide. You never gamble with a player carrying an injury."
