Moran on verge of dramatic return

May 07, 2013

Mayo captain Andy Moran raises the Nestor Cup at Dr Hyde Park.
Andy Moran could yet feature in Mayo's Connacht SFC opener against Galway.

Mayo's 2012 captain still hasn't tasted any competitive action since tearing a cruciate ligament during last year's All-Ireland quarter-final win over Down.

He has been recuperating under the radar in recent months and it had been widely assumed that the Ballaghaderreen clubman had no chance of featuring at Pearse Stadium on May 19th.

However, Moran was togged out in the county colours at Enniskillen on Saturday when Mayo faced Fermanagh in a SF challenge and - even though he didn't play - the 2011 All Star took a full part in the warm-up and was also involved in the half-time drill.

Meanwhile, Alan Dillon didn't feature against the Erne County even though he had played a club game the previous weekend.
