Goalkeeper Micheal Schlingermann has returned to professional soccer after a one-year spell with the Mayo senior footballers.

The Kiltimagh native, who was part of the Mayo side that reached the 2009 All-Ireland MFC final, made his inter-county comeback under James Horan this year and claimed an Allianz League Division 1 medal in April. However, the 28-year-old netminder has put pen to paper with Galway United ahead of the new season.

Schlingermann has a wealth of experience in the League of Ireland having also played for Sligo Rovers, Athlone Town, Monaghan United and Drogheda United.
