Johnson seeks improvement

Ballintubber manager Kevin Johnson is in no doubt that their Connacht SFC semi-final display will not be good enough to beat defending champions Corofin in the provincial decider.

The Mayo champions saw off the challenge of Leitrim’s Glencar/Manorhamilton in testing conditions last weekend.

However, they will face a much sterner test against the reigning All-Ireland champions and Johnson is well aware of that.

“We know we have to improve a lot to beat Corofin. Corofin know what it takes to win these type of games,” Johnson told the Leitrim Observer.

“But there’s very little between teams at this level of the competition and you know Mayo clubs and Galway clubs have always done well in the Connacht club and All-Ireland series.

“We’ll really back ourselves now and are really going to look forward to that Corofin challenge.”
