Mayo SFC: Ballagh' book final ticket

Ballaghaderreen star Andy Moran in his county's colours

Ballaghaderreen qualified for this year's Mayo SFC final in fine style today.

Paul McHugh’s charges inflicted a 0-15 to 0-8 penultimate stage defeat on Castlebar Mitchels at MacHale Park to secure a final tilt with reigning champions Ballintubber.

Andy Moran made the scoresheet with three points for the winners who led by 0-10 to 0-4 at the halfway stage.

Ryan Lynch and Cormac Doohan raised four white flags each while goalkeeper Patrick Sharkey saved Neil Douglas’ second-half penalty effort.

The final will be a repeat of the 2012 clash between the two teams and Ballagh’ will be hoping that history repeats itself – they sprung a 1-9 to 0-4 surprise on that occasion.

The game is fixed for Saturday, October 19 in MacHale Park (7pm).
