The capacity of Fitzgerald Stadium has been cut over 6,000 for the meeting of Kerry and Mayo in the All-Ireland SFC Super 8’s clash on Sunday afternoon.

Usually the stadium would host 38,000 for a fixture of this magnitude, but on this occasion, there will be a capacity of 31,900.

The problem arises from the fact that between the two counties there are 7,000 season ticket holders, but the main stand seats 7,500, meaning there is no guarantee that every season ticket holder will get a seat.

There are a large number of seats reserved for members of the Ard Comhairle as well as the counties' backroom teams and substitutes.

All tickets are now general admission instead of being for the seated area in the stand, meaning that the stand will be filled on a first come first served basis.

The remaining patrons will have to occupy the terrace and both ends of the grounds, but Croke Park have ordered the capacity be reduced by 6,100 to comply with health and safety regulations.
