Andy Moran held his nerve to convert an injury-time penalty which handed Ballaghaderreen a dramatic 2-10 to 1-12 victory over Claremorris in the first round of the Mayo SFC last evening.

The 2017 Footballer of the Year's low shot to the corner went under the net, which led some to think it had gone wide, but neither Moran nor the umpire were in any doubt about the goal's validity.

Playing on their home turf, Ballaghaderreen trailed by 0-3 to 0-11 at the break as James Shaughnessy led the scoring charge for Claremorris. But last year's Moclair Cup semi-finalists came storming back in the second half to snatch victory.
