Derry 3-15
Mayo 0-18
Derry honoured the memory of their late team-mate Aodhán O'Donnell by beating Mayo in their All-Ireland U21HC 'B' quarter-final at Carrick-on-Shannon.
Aodhán's body was recovered from the River Foyle on Friday following an extensive search since he was reported missing last weekend. Before this Richie McElligott clash, the teams stood in silence together as a mark of respect to the Na Magha clubman.
The Oak Leafers held a 1-8 to 0-9 lead at half-time, but Mayo had the deficit down to the minimum when Sean Kenny pointed after the restart. However, Derry added two more goals to run out convincing winners.
