Connacht GAA's Centre of Excellence in Bekan, Co. Mayo is expected to make its car-parking facilities available for Pope Francis' visit to Knock Shrine in August.

The Centre of Excellence is located just three miles from Knock village and can cater for up to 2,000 cars at once. It hosted over 20,000 visitors for the national Feile na nGael finals earlier this month. An estimated 45,000 people are expected to descend on Knock for the papal visit on August 26.

A large indoor arena or dome containing a full-size GAA pitch is set to be constructed at the Centre of Excellence at a cost of between €3m-€5m in the coming months.
