Horan could reunite with Keegan at Westport

James Horan.

James Horan is being tipped to become Westport's new football manager.

The Connacht Telegraph is reporting that the former Mayo boss has been in talks with the club with a view to taking the reins in 2018. Damian Loftus guided Westport to an All-Ireland club IFC title at Croke Park last spring but subsequently stepped down. Club chairman Charlie Lambert has filled the position on an interim basis ever since.

Horan, who coached the Turloughmore hurlers in Galway this year, will reunite with former Footballer of the Year Lee Keegan and Kevin Keane - who is recovering from cruciate ligament surgery - if appointed.
