Louth Vs Westmeath Well said Joej. All the Dundalk fans must have been watching Ireland down the TOWN. There will be some other excuse next time we play, too wet, too cold, too sunny but when all said and done the same old faces will follow national league matches where ever they are played. I did not see Ollie there, he must have been stuck to the chair by the fire. Only one word can describe Paddy and that's "awesome". Lets hope some of his talent will rub off on theose around him. Louth Vs Westmeath Yep Nice tidy wee win yesterday, though Fitizer (or who ever is making the decisions) was spot on the taking Ronan Green off, he got caught out badly in the first 15 minutes twice and taking both Magure and Califf off was the right call, neither of them did much, however I would start califf again the next day, hes a big lad and we dont have too many of them about.Ronan Carroll had a good first half scoring two points then went out of the game totally, Rath played well when introduced as did hoey in the other corner, Ray Finengan was poor I thought, i counted 6 balls in the first half that he failed to find a louth man with the ball, Donnelly had a great second half and was heading for man of the match but for keenans two great catches at the end just made him my man of the match. We might just get something in galway, was in croke park on sat night and kildare were and are pure hopeless, two points to be go there for sure, the onlt team i would fear is tyrone, and they have their eye on bigger things this year i think. So all in all not a bad weekend and a bit of hope travelling west next week. sdicndt , 06/02/2012 at 20:02

Louth V Galway C'Mon lads The topic is the Galway game. Stick to the format. If we get a draw here I will be over the moon. Reading their posts today they are in good form after yesterdays win in Derry. PS any comments on w/meath game can go into louth v w/meath topic joej , 06/02/2012 at 17:59

Louth Vs Westmeath Positives:Winning while playing mediocre. The subs in the first half were made and the right time and made a difference.I thought Donnelly played well in the second half, not sure what else people want him to do.Shevlin, Gerry Hoey and Crilly played well also.Paddy was brilliant as everNegatives:Forwards were very disjointed, butchered a lot of openings. The substitutions near the end were very strange, Dessie is the last player I would have take off especially when the gap was only 2-3 points.Shooting in general was poor.Any ideas on how we could clone Paddy? Louth V Galway cant understand why maguire would be nervy as described in other post as this is his 4th season with Louth and he has played in much bigger games than this. It was a big game for James califf as it was his first as a louth senior and in fairness he is a midfielder not a square man - likewiswe Mcenaney may have made some mistakes but he got on the ball plenty of times, and while he played in some challeneges it was his first competitive game at senior level. They are both unfortunate in that yesterday was Louth's easiest game and there may not be many more opportunities to give inexperienced players a start in this league.Thought Donnelly had a great second half - and while Carroll got 2 points he squandered some great chances. Hoey may be useful as an impact sub on the square but I thought the idea of takingthe full back off with such a small winning margin was indeed very foolish and could have cost us dearly in the end- thankfully in did'nt. gaelgoir , 06/02/2012 at 16:35

Louth Vs Westmeath Firstly €13 entrance fee is a joke. €10 is plenty for a league game. The game itself was as I think we all expected. I think Donnelly needs to get with the programme and get more intensity into his game. Everyone keeps saving he had a good game. I thought he was poor. Thats his job he is a big guy. I thought Mceaney was slow on the ball and slow releasing the ball. Clarke did ok and had to come out too deep to get any ball, there were no half fowards at all in the 1st half, crilly, keenan, carroll did well. Still not convinced about Gallagher and we need our fowards to be more mobile. Job done and thats about it. If we had a full team I would give us a chance against Galway, but after they beat Derry in Derry their tails will be up so best we can hope for is a point & I hope Im wrong. This is a very important season for fitzer all the good will we had for him after Leinter run in 2010 will soon be forgotten if he kepps taking off full backs who have done nothing wrong for the whole game. They could have easily been beaten yesterday towards the end. Cannot understand why he did this with 3 minutes to go. Dessie had a decent enough game and then fitzer jnr gets a run at full back. You could hear the groans around the ground. Lastly very poor crowd at the game yesterday. So much for moving ganes to Dundalk for bigger crowds. joej , 06/02/2012 at 14:33
Louth V Galway I have to say that I thought young McEnaney had a really positive outing for his first mational league game and the free role he was given can be developed, The reason I felt that he and many of the Louth players did not deliver the ball in was that nobody was showing. The entire full forward line were behind there men and making no creative runs to allow good ball.Darren Clarke worked really hard but had to come out too deep to get ball. Young Maguire was very nervy as was young Califf. it was only when Aaron hoey went in full forward that options started to appear inside and this is a worry. Keenan and Donnelly in the middle are as good a midfield combination around once Donnelly is focused and getting stuck in. I think there is 6 points in this team and it is possible that they will stay in this division which would be a considerable achievement. waterbottle , 06/02/2012 at 14:07
