NA PIARSAIGH 1-12
LANNLEIRE 1-9

Na Piarsaigh kept alive their hopes of Division 2 football next season by defeating Lannleire in the promotion/relegation play-off semi-final on Wednesday evening.

The Dundalk men produced a strong final quarter performance which saw them outscore their opponents by 1-4 to 0-1, with the goal coming from Eamon McAuley.

Lannleire went into the game just days after their Junior Championship semi-final draw but didn't appear to by suffering any effects from that game as they match their opponents in the opening half. With both teams kicking some good scores the teams went in at the break level at six points apiece.

It remained delicately poised until the 45th minute when an excellent goal from Paul Callan put his side 1-8 to 0-8 in front.

It was looking like an uphill task for Na Piarsaigh at that stage but they showed great character to fight back and McAuley's goal helped seal victory in a dramatic finale.

Na Piarsaigh will take on either Roche Emmets or St Kevins who meet on Friday night for the right to play in Division 2 next year.
