Dundalk Gaels club notes

June 26, 2017

Our walk on the Cooley Mountains was a huge success, raising much-needed funds for the club. Upwards on 150 took part, and it was very pleasing to see so many children and their parents involved.

The walkers headed off at 1.45pm from The Lumpers, in Ravensdale, and after covering the scenic route of around 10k, the first of them arrived back at around 5.15. The children had a snack in the Lumpers, while the parents and club members gathered in Kennedy's on the Carrick Road later that evening.

Our thanks to Gerry Oakes and his committee for the manner in which they organised the event.

As winner of the Louth Skills Challenge at school and club level, Liam O'Connor, son of underage mentor and former Louth footballer, Packie O'Connor, will take part in the half-time game at Croke Park on All-Ireland Football Final day. Liam, who plays with the club's under-12s, won the local competition from a huge number of entrants.

The numbers drawn in last Tuesday's draw had no matches. Consolation prizes won by Niamh Walsh, Ciaran Burke, B Reynolds and Fr Padraig Keenan. The jackpot in this Tuesday night's draw is €8,200. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member.
