HUNTERSTOWN ROVERS 0-11

Conal O'Hanlon inspired St Josephs to a nine-point victory over Hunterstown Rovers to send his side through to the Intermediate Championship Final where they will take on Mattock Rangers.

In an impressive 11-minute spell either side of the break, the full-forward scored 1-5 and set up another goal for Alan Quigley to all but kill off the Hunterstown challenge at Haggardstown on Friday night.

The Dromiskin team made the perfect start when Conall Smyth pointed before Alan Quigley found the top corner of the net.

However, Rovers made an impressive response and took control of the game but despite some good approach play they were unable to make full use of their chances.

Ryan Byrns, Paul Carrie, Glen Matthews and Richie Taaffe were all on target but series of wasted chances for both goals and points meant that after 24 minutes their lead was just 0-6 to 1-2 when in reality they deserved much more.

They were then made pay a heavy price when O'Hanlon took control of the game, scoring three points and setting up a goal for Quigley to put his side 2-5 to 0-6 in front at half time.

O'Hanlon then piled on more misery for Rovers as he landed two further frees before fisting to the net from a Derek Mulligan pass.

At that stage the lead was out to 3-7 to 0-6 and in reality there was no way back for Rovers.

Although Hunterstown battled until the end and had points from Burns, Ryan Ward and Padraig Matthews, they were unable to put any real pressure on the Joes.

The Cluskey Park outfit defended their goal impressively and sealed a comfortable win with late scores from Derek Mulligan and Jack Mulligan.
