Naomh Fionnbarra club notes

There was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. and St. Anne's Camogie Club Lotto draw held on Wednesday 22nd June. The winning numbers were 2, 6, 14 & 22. There were 6 match 3 winners Tom Connor, The Cíorogs, Scorca Callan, Matt Butterly, Ardballon, Ann Courtney, Laura Sharkey, Seaview, Ballygassan, Shane O'Brien, Mitchelstown who won €25 each. Next weeks jackpot stays at €10,000, with the reserve jackpot rising to €9,850. Tickets are available from the usual local outlets, Lotto sellers and any committee member. Funds raised from our Lotto draw go towards the running of the club and your support is greatly appreciated.

Played in sunny conditions excellent for football, Naomh Fionnbarra B played Clan na Gael B in Round 9 of the Division 4 League at John Markey Park, Ballygassan on Mondayevening 20th June. The first half was evenly fought by both sides and finished level. Half time score: Naomh Fionnbarra B 0-8(8) Clan na Gael B 1-5(8).  The Barrs took control in the second half and recorded an excellent win with great performances all over the field.  Final score: Naomh Fionnbarra B 3-14(23) Clan na Gael B 1-9(12).  Naomh Fionnbarra scorers: Conor Osborne 0-6, Máirtín Murphy 0-3, Shane O'Brien 1-0, Ryan Woods 1-0, Brendan Murphy 1-0, Andy McCann 0-2, Colin McGrane 0-2, Chris McGlynn 0-1.  Naomh Fionnbarra B Team: Brendan Simms; Michael McArdle, Michael McGrane, Martin O'Neill; Máirtín Murphy, Hugh McGrane, Chris McGlynn; Colin MgGrane, Andy McCann; Brendan Murphy, Conor Osborne, Matthew Monaghan; Ryan Woods, Shane O'Brien, Caolan Leech.  The next game is on Sunday 3rd July v St. Brides at 11:30am at Knockbridge.

Our Under 14 girls joined forces with The Dreadnots for 2016 and reached the Division 2 league semi final. The game will took place next Monday 20th June against Newtown Blues at 7pm in Drogheda. In what was a high scoring, excellent game with both teams fighting hard till the final whistle, the girls lost by a point! All managers/mentors are extremely proud of every single girl that togged out!  Final Score:  Newtown Blues 7-12 (33)  Dreadnots/Naomh Fionnbarra 9-5 (32).

Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire U-13 team lost to Oliver Plunketts 0-8(8) to 1-10(13) in the Division 3 League Round 1 on Wednesday 22nd June.

 

Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire U-12 team lost to O'Connells/Stabannon Parnells 1-3(6) to 3-8(17) in the Division 3 League Round 5 on Friday 24th June.


Our Intermediate team lost to St. Josephs 5-15(30) to 3-10(19) in the 9th Round of the Division 2 League on Saturday 25th June. In what was an up and down game of peaks and troughs the Barrs started brightly with a goal from Máirtín Murphy.  The Joes replied with 1-3 of their own befrore the Finbarrs fought back with some scores of their own.  Half time score:  Naomh Fionnbarra 1-4(7) St. Josephs 1-5(8).  The Joes launched out of the blocks in the second half and scored 2-4 without reply to take a commanding 12 point lead.  Back came the Togher men and scored 1-6 without reply, the goal a daisy cutter from Pádraic Murphy.  Some of the point scoring was excellent as the Barrs had the Dromiskin men under severe pressure with only 2 points betweekn the teams.  The Joes managed to relieve the onslaught with a goal on the counter attack and picked off some easy socres to coast to victory.  The Finbarrs grabbed a consolation goal from a Bernard Osborne penalty with the last kick of the game.  Full time score: Naomh Fionnbarra 3-10(19) St. Josephs 5-15(30).  Hard luck lads.  Naomh Fionnbarra Team: Shane O'Brien, Hugh McGrane, Conor Lenihan, Bryan Sharkey 0-1, Chris McGlynn 0-1, Óisín McGee 0-1, Pádraig Butterly, Darren McConnon, John Doyle, Máirtín Murphy 1-2, Hugh Osborne 0-1, Conor Osborne 0-1, Bernard Osborne 1-2(2f, 1 pen), Gary Matthews, Pádraic Murphy 1-1. Our Intermediate team play St. Mochta's in the Division 2 League on Friday 1st July at 8pm.  The First round of the Intermediate Championship has also been fixed for Sunday 9th July v St. Mochta's in Stabannon at 6:30pm.

Hard luck to Conor Lenihan and Hugh Osborne who were part of the Louth Junior team that lost to Wexford in the Leinster Junior Championship Final.
