St Fechins got the Senior Hurling League off to a good start with a three point victory over Naomh Moninne on Thursday night. Two early goals from Vincent Hynes and Michéal Byrne settled the local side. Naomh Moninne fought back with four frees from D Murphy, followed by a goal. A hat-trick of points from play by Barry Devlin were followed by points from Hynes and David Stephenson. Naomh Moninne kept in touch with a point from play and two further McCarthy frees. Seaghan Conneely finished the first half with two excellent points to leave the half time score reading 2-7 to 1-7 to the Fechins.

The second half was an even affair with both teams scoring five points each. D Murphy and David Stephenson exchanged four frees each. An injury to county star Andrew Mackin held up proceedings for ten minutes and on the restart Naomh Moninne cut the Fechins lead to two points. Paddy McCormack finished the scoring with a long range point to secure a win for the Termonfeckin side.
