Wayne Kierans was proud of his Louth players

Wayne Kierans was proud of his Louth players after their unlucky Leinster MFC exit.

The Wee County were beaten in injury time by Laois at Drogheda on Saturday and their manager was quick to outline the spirit and character of his squad:

"The character was unbelievable and it was the same all year as they really are a good bunch of lads, so I'm just sorry they didn't get the chance to continue their journey," the O'Connells clubman told The Argus.

"It's devastating for them but that is the cut and thrust of championship football.

"It was an unbelievable performance from the lads in difficult conditions near the end and you are talking about one bounce of the ball going either way. Maybe Laois got that bit of luck that doesn't seem to happen for Louth teams when it matters most."
