Nh Fionnbarra find themselves a point clear at the top of Division 2 after their 1-9 to 1-2 win at home to Na Piarsaigh saw them become the only team with a 100 percent record after three games.

It was the Dundalk side who opened the scoring but thereafter the Finbarrs enjoyed the better of things and went in at the break with a 1-4 to 1-1 lead with the help of a Bernard Osborne goal. Cormac Malone once again illustrated his eye for goal when he raised a green flag to keep Na Piarsaigh in contention.

However, the visitors were unable to build on that score and only managed one further point. The Finbarrs had no such trouble as they added five further points to claim their position at the top of the table.

Cooley Kickhams remain a point off the summit after they made if five points out of six after proving too strong for Hunterstown Rovers at Fr McEvoy Park where they recorded a 3-14 to 2-7 win.

A Richard Brennan goal on six minutes put the home side in the driving seat, with Neil Gallagher producing a save from a Paul Carrie penalty to help his side lead by 1-7 to 0-4 at half time.

Cooley remained in control in the third quarter but Rovers gave themselves brief hope when Paul Carrie and Conor Matthews hit the net. However, the Kickhams replied in style and late goals from Michael Rafferty and Gerry Malone put the issue beyond doubt.

Young Irelands remain joint second after a late point from a Mark Savage free rescued a draw away to Roche Emmets.

The Dundalk side had the advantage of the wind in the first half and made good use of the elements as a goal from a Mark Savage penalty saw them lead by 1-7 to 0-3 at the break.

However, Roche dominated the second half and looked to be on the verge of victory thanks to two goals. In the end they were unable to hold on as Savage fired over to preserve the Young Irelands' unbeaten start.

Clan na Gael moved up to four points thanks to a very impressive 5-20 to 1-7 win over St Josephs at home on Sunday afternoon, with Mark Newell the hero as he scored four second half goals.

The first half was a relatively close affair with the Joes scoring the first goal through Conall Smith, but Robbie Curran replied to help Clans lead by 1-10 to 1-5 at half time.
The second period was dominated by the home side as they completed the win with Newells four goals.

A memorable weekend for Ciaran Byrne got off to the perfect start when his St Mochtas clubmates picked up a second win of the season after coming out on top against Oliver Plunketts.

The 0-11 to 0-4 defeat leaves the Drogheda men lying at the foot of the table and the only team in the division not to register a point.

Cian Matthews was top scorer for the Plunketts with three points.

Geraldines picked up their first win of the campaign when they edged past neighbours, St Brides by 4-8 to 3-9 in an entertaining contest in Knockbridge on Saturday evening.

The Gers started at a blistering pace with Shaun Callan and Glen Trainor inside eight minutes. Conal Hoey and Michael Rogers then added further goals before Aaron Hoey found the net at the other end to cut the gap to 4-2 to 1-5 at half time.

A second goal from Aaron Hoey kept the game in the balance in the second period and with time running out there was just a point between the teams. However, Dara Hamill had the final say with a long-range point to seal the victory.
