Junior 2A Championship: On Tuesday night last we travelled to Lordship to play the home team St. Patricks in the junior championship. As with our second team all season we just about fielded a team and were on the wrong end of the result. Once again and not for the first time this season we must thank all who lined out for the club and assure them it is very much appreciated. Now that our so called second team have finished playing here are some facts, only two players played in all ten games, the club works from a pool of about 40 to 45 players, 12 are not allowed play for the division 4 team that leaves around 33. So how come we struggle to get 15 to play in the second team? In our day you started in the second team for your club until you were asked to join the first team and if you were not putting it in or not turning up, then a start in the first team was out of the question. There will come a day when you're standing on the hill watching a game and the thought will enter your head that you should have played for a little bit longer or while you had the chance to. Team: John McLoughlin; Brian Hanratty, John Paul Stanfield, James Rath; David Hoey, Keith Woods, David Neasy; David Doyle, Micheal Cairns 0-1; Stefan O'Hanrahan 0-1, TJ Doyle 0-2, Dean Corrigan 0-1; Ryan O'Hanrahan, Kevin McGeough, Dalton O'Brien. Subs Stephen Hoey for O'Brien, Jonathon Conlon for Woods, Leslie Walsh for Rath. Division 1: We travelled to the Point Road on Thursday night last and came away with a draw in a game that we were winning by nine points early in the second half. We played great in the first half and were well on top but after the penalty against us after the start of the second half which was never inside the box and the black card given to Jason Carroll we seem to retreat back in to our own half and bring on more pressure than we needed. However a point is better than none at all and we are now fifth in the table on score difference. It's the senior championship relegation playoff next Sunday morning versus Naomh Mairtin in Dunleer at 11.00am. Team: Stuart Reynolds; Andrew Shields, Conor Byrne, PJ Tuite; Keith Woods, Jason Carroll, Conor McGill; Sean Cairns, Dean Stanfield; Niall Conlon, Salem Rifaie 1-0, Andrew Sharkey 0-2(1f); Robert Quigley 1-4(1f), Paul McKeever, Cian Doyle 1-6(P,4f). Subs Killian Shields for Carroll(B), Ciaran O'Brien for McKeever, Conor Kiernan for Cairns.
