Tough start, O'Hanlon admits

Cathal O'Hanlon's first championship match in charge of Newtown Blues is against Drogheda rivals O'Raghallaighs.

The sides clash at the Gaelic Grounds tonight in the first game of this year's Louth SFC and O'Hanlon says the Joe Ward Cup holders have no problem playing the Hoops on their own patch:

"It's a tough start but every team has been preparing for the championship since January or February so there are no soft touches any more," the former Louth attacker says in The Drogheda Independent.

"People have been saying for a few years that the intermediate is very competitive now and any team can beat anyone else on their day. I've been involved in a few Dundalk derbies in my day and you need to be king of your own street.

"We had no issue playing in the Gaelic Grounds. Our lads know it inside out and have won championships there. It was either that or head up the county a bit to somewhere like Dunleer, so it was an easy choice to be honest."
