Ardee CS "in it to win it" - Gilsenan

Ardee CS celebrate their North Leinster Senior C final win over Heywood.
Ardee Community School plan to bring a first-ever All-Ireland title back to the mid-Louth town this weekend.

At Portlaoise on Saturday afternoon, Ardee CS come up against Colaiste na Ghobnatan in the Post Primary School All-Ireland 'C' final.

Team manager Mark Gilsenan stresses that the Wee County and Leinster champions will be gunning for glory: "Obviously, we are in it to win it," he tells The Dundalk Democrat.

"We have been winning by big scores and I am focussed on keeping them grounded for the final. I told them to look at Mayo, whose club and county teams have got to a lot of finals and never got over the line.

"It is no good getting to the final unless you win it. You have to knuckle down, concentrate on what is happening on the field and nothing else.

"The boys know it will be tough, it will go down to the end and whoever wants it more will be the team to do it. Hopefully, that will be our boys.

"We don't feel any pressure and the way the boys have played in the last few games, you are just excited to see them play again. As long as they do what they have been doing this year, we have a good chance."
