Louth attacker Derek Maguire will miss the last two rounds of the national football league.

The Dundalk Young Irelands clubman hurt his ankle during the dramatic Round Five draw with Galway and has been ruled out of this weekend's trip to Ballyshannon as well as the final Division Two outing against neighbours Meath the following Sunday.

Management confirmed that the player has sustained ankle ligament damage and his unavailability means Louth are now without their entire 2013 full-forward line: Shane Lennon remains injured, while Ciaran Byrne has of course moved to the AFL.

One of Maguire's possible replacements, U21 star Cian Doyle, is also struggling with injury.

Louth also have injury concerns in defence, with Gary Connolly certain to miss the Donegal game while Gerard Hoey, Padraig Rath and Gary O'Hare are all carrying knocks.
