New Arrival: Congratulations to O’Connells player Jackie Agnew and partner Shauna on the birth of their baby girl Bea over the weekend, a little sister for Isaac. Congratulations from all at the club.

Louth: Best of luck to Wayne Kierans and the Louth team as they start their 2020 Allianz Football League Division 3 campaign away to Longford next Sunday. An Lú Abu. 

Sheelan Cup: The draw for the Paddy Sheelan Cup has been made and we are in group D along with Newtown Blues, Clan Na Gael and St. Fechins. The season will most likely start on the weekend 7th February.

Bingo: Bingo will continue in our clubrooms on Wednesday 22nd January at 8.00pm, jackpot €1,900 in 48 numbers. 

Registration: O’Connell’s G.F.C is holding our annual registration evening Friday from 6.30pm-7.15pm in our club rooms. If you sign your child up on the night, he/she will get sized up for a football, gum shield and a pair of gloves. Price of registration is €20 per child or €50 for 3 kids or more. We are in need of players at all age levels. So if you’re new to the area come down on the night and get your child signed up. We promote a fun approach to playing GAA. We coach top quality training that will develop your child to become a team player. We also make sure that they have the enjoyment factor each week either on or off the playing field. He / she will feel part of a brilliant and ever growing big club. We are also starting our first ever nursery training at the club that will kick off mid-February this will cater for age groups of 3 to 5. It will start at 10.30am and run till 11.15am on Saturday Mornings, all indoor. Any parent / guardian, who are willing to help out in any way in 2020, please come down and chat to our coaches and training staff.

Gaeltacht: For 2020, Coláiste an Phiarsaigh are co-sponsoring Gaeltacht scholarships with Louth GAA. With this scheme, a much greater number of students can receive scholarships. Every participating club is guaranteed a scholarship worth €200. The Gaeltacht course will be with Coláiste an Phiarsaigh in the Gaoth Dobhar Gaeltacht. There will be a interview as Gaeilge for the Gaeltacht scholarships in Darver, Centre of Excellence on Saturday February 1st at 10am. This will be an informal chat so no need to worry.
