Peter Fitzpatrick has been elected as Louth’s new county board chairman.
The local TD and former senior football boss defeated Declan Byrne and Fra Kieran with 83 votes compared to their 24 and 22 respectively at last night’s convention in Darver.
Fitzpatrick steered the Wee County to its first Leinster SFC final appearance in 50 years back in 2010 - when they lost out controversially to a late Meath goal at Croke Park - and succeeds Des Halpenny in the role.
Elsewhere, former PRO Bob Doheny has been elected as the board’s new secretary, replacing Kieran after the latter stepped down due to the five-year rule.
