All-Ireland hurling final referee James Owens caught the eye as he oversaw the Louth SHC final on Sunday.

Wexford man Owens was the man in the middle at Dunleer as Naomh Moninne pipped St Fechins to win the Paddy Kelly Cup for the second time in three years.

Owens, who refereed the 2015, 2018 and 2019 All-Ireland finals, showed why he is widely regarded as the best hurling official in the country as he let the game flow and contributed to what was a great spectacle for supporters of Wee County hurling.

The Askamore clubman also refereed the 2007 All-Ireland minor final, the All-Ireland U21 final in 2008 and the club final in 2015.
