DJ Carey was on the sideline this evening at Nowlan Park as his Kilkenny side lost out to Louth in the opening round of the Leinster minor football championship.
Carey has been involved in the underage football scene in Kilkenny since taking his native county’s U14s in 2016 and donned the Bainisteoir bib for the minors' provincial opener today which saw them go down in a gallant effort against the Wee County.
It finished 3-16 to 3-8 in favour of the visitors and afterwards the five-time Liam MacCarthy Cup and 10-time Leinster SHC winner seemed to have some congratulatory words for the opposition, with the below photo showing Louth’s footballers huddled around him following the final whistle:
