Sheelan Cup: We played out a draw in our last Sheelan Cup group match last Thursday night at a very cold Darver. Although short a few players it was a chance for the rest of the panel to get game time. It was a scrappy game not helped by the weather; we started well but found ourselves behind at half time 0-6 to 0-3. A couple of substitutions at the start of the second half made some difference but every time we got our noses in front we could not hang on to the lead. Two points down going into the last four minutes the lads never give up and got level with time just about up. We had a chance to win it when we got a free from a score-able position but the referee decided to hop the ball because of our indiscipline, lesson learned hopefully.

Membership: Just about two weeks left for club membership, 31st March is the closing date. The fee's for 2018 are adult €40, OAP and U16 to U18 €20, please contact our membership officer Joanne O'Dwyer 087-6254728 or any committee member. Bingo: Bingo will continue in our clubrooms this Wednesday 21st March at 8.00pm, jackpot €3,300 in 48 numbers.

 

Award: Congratulations to Colm Corrigan who has won the 2017 McNamee Award for "Best Local Radio programme" for his documentary "When Sam crossed the Boyne". He will be presented with his award at a ceremony in Croke Park later this month. Well done Colm from all at O'Connells GFC.

 

Dinner Dance: O'Connells championship winning presentation dinner dance will take place on Sunday 1/4/18 Easter Sunday in our clubrooms at 8.00pm sharp. Music by The Great Escape, tickets €30 available from any committee member.

 

Social Dancing: There will be social dancing on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd April in our clubrooms from 9.00pm, music by Images, admission €10 and refreshments will be served.

 

Slimming World: Slimming World will be in our clubrooms every Monday from 7.00pm with consultant Debbie 087-2501622.
