There was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. and St. Anne's Camogie Club Lotto draw held on Wednesday 7th February. The winning numbers were 5, 10, 15 & 18.  There were 6 match 3 winners Gabrielle Reneghan, Ardballon, Ann Dargan, Castle Lane, Pat Reynolds, Tullydonnell, Pat Reynolds, Tullydonnell, Ann Harrington c/o St. Annes, Irene Halpenny, Mooremount, Dunleer who won €25 each.  Next weeks jackpot stays at €10,000.  Tickets are available from the usual local outlets, Lotto sellers and any committee member.  Funds raised from our Lotto draw go towards the running of the club and your support is greatly appreciated.

Naomh Fionnbarra are delighted to announce the Official opening of our new walking track around the field at John Markey Park on Monday 12th February at 8pm in conjunction with the GAA and RTE's Operation Transformation "Ireland Lights Up" Campaign.  Floodlights will be turned on at the track on Monday evening and members of the public are welcome to use the track.  The track will be open for use for Social members all year round.  The cost of Social membership with Naomh Fionnbarra is €30 per year.  

 

Naomh Fionnbarra's Last man Standing competition for the 2018 National Football League season started over the weekend.  There were 59 entrants who made it through to Round 3 and after wins for Dublin, Tyrone, Galway, Cork, and Down 52 entrants made it through to Round 3 which is on the weekend 24th/25th February.  As the games involving Monaghan v Kerry and Cavan v Meath were called off due to the bad weather both teams are classed as winners in accordance with the competition rules.  Well done to those who made it through and hard luck to those who were knocked out.

 

The club are hosting membership registration days on Sunday 18th February and Sunday 25th February between 11:30am and 1:30pm at Dillonstown Hall for men, ladies, juveniles and camogie sections.  All players and members who wish to renew their membership are welcome to attend on either day.  

 

Hard luck to our own William Woods who came on a sub as corner forward in the second half v Cork on Sunday afternoon in the 3rd Round of the League as they were beaten 2-11(17) to 0-10(10).  William scored 3 points in the 2nd half as Louth tried to come back from a 8 point half time deficit.

 

Hard luck to Leanne Sharkey, Shauna Markey, Deirbhile Osborne and Roisin Osborne who were part of the Louth Ladies panel who lost to Fermanagh in Derrygonnelly on Sunday 3-10(19) to 2-5(11) in Round 3 of the League.

 

The Naomh Fionnbarra Intermediate men are continuing S&C training in preparation for the season ahead.  Any players over 17 years of age are welcome and training is on Monday and Friday nights at the moment.  Former goalkeeper Allan Matthews has been confirmed as our Division 5 team manager.  The club are looking for selectors to help him this year, anyone interested please contact a member of our committee.  The draw for the Paddy Sheelan Cup has been made and the club have been drawn in Group C with Newtown Blues, Dundalk Gaels and Glen Emmets.  The first game is v Newtown Blues in Drogheda on Sunday 25th February at 10:30am.  

 

2018 season is off to a great start for the Naomh Fionnbarra Ladies team. Manager Mark McArdle along with Niall Campbell and Andrew Rodgers are welcoming new players to join the panel.Training is on Tuesday nights from 8:30-9:30pm in Walshestown and bootcamp in Dunleer on Thursdays from 8-9pm. For any under14/16 or minor Ladies interested in playing football this season there will be a meeting on Tuesday(13/2)at 7:30 in the clubrooms.  Any interested player is requested to attend with a parent.

 

The club were delighted to recieve a Grant of €9,800 from Leinster Council towards our new training field which should be ready to use later on in the summer.

Louth GAA Coaching & Games are looking for coaches for the 2018 Louth GAA Kellogg's Cúl Camps which will be taking place at various venues throughout the county this summer. We are looking for Lead coaches (18 years +) and Assistant Coaches (17 years) that should have at least completed a GAA Foundation Award, Code of Ethics / Best Practice and be Garda Vetted whilst undertaking compulsory Cúl Camp Coaches training as part of the programme. Those that have coached with us before need to resubmit all the relevant details again!! Standard Tax and PRSI rules will apply to all coaches.

 

In total, there will be 36 camps in Louth this year and they commence on Monday 2nd July and finish on Friday 17th August (total of Six weeks). People interested in coaching Gaelic Games (Football, Hurling/Camogie) and want to be part of the Louth GAA Summer Camps 2017 can complete the application form from the link below.  Closing date for all applications is Friday 27th April.
