Dromard club notes

June 19, 2017

All Ireland Qualifiers: Congratulations to the Longford senior footballers and management team on their tremendous win away to Louth on Saturday last. Well done to Diarmuid Masterson who played very effectively in the Longford defence, Ronan McEntire and Paul McGee (a second half substitute). Congratulations to Denis Connerton and the Longford management team including Dromard's Enda Macken, Alan McLoughlin and Danny O'Toole. The players and management have worked extremely hard all year and were rewarded for their efforts on Saturday. Good luck to all involved in the preparations for the second round clash against Donegal.

Reserve Senior Cup: Our second squad took on Mostrim in Páirc na nGael on Friday evening last in the second game of the Reserve Senior Cup Championship. Following the defeat to Abbeylara in the opening game, a win in this fixture was vital and the team duly delivered with a good performance and a well-deserved victory. Dromard led from start to finish in this contest and their ability to score goals at vital stages proved to be the difference between the sides. Jimmy Kiernan put in an excellent performance in the half-forward line and midfield area, supplying good ball to the Dromard forwards where James Martin, Niall McManus and Peter Mimnagh played well. Dromard led by 2-5 to 4 points at half time and had to weather a determined comeback by Mostrim in the early stages of the second half before pulling away in the last ten minutes with a number of well-worked scores. Team versus Mostrim: Sean McNerney, James Conefrey, Conor Duffy, Pauric McNerney, Michael Reynolds, Peter Masterson, Kevin Donohoe, James Mimnagh, Noel Reynolds, Martin McMcGee, Bryan McCormack, Jimmy Kiernan, Niall McManus, Peter Mimnagh, James Martin. Subs: Keith Masterson, Martin McStay, Thomas Conefrey.

Fixtures: Our second squad takes on Clonguish on Friday evening (23rd June) at 8:30pm in Allen Park, Newtownforbes, in the final group game of the Reserve Senior Cup competition. This is an important game as Dromard are in with a chance of advancing to the semi final of this competition. All support would be greatly appreciated.
