Dromard Ladies Club Notes
Presentation Night: Thanks to everybody who attended our presentation night in the clubhouse on Sun last. No doubt the presence of the All Ireland Junior cup and the Dromard players on that winning panel in Croke Park helped swell the usual numbers. The turnout was enormous. Our underage panels always turn out in numbers, with 55 on the night no matter what the event and regularly go the extra mile to make up panel numbers in the age group above, but even they were shocked by the level of support shown to them on the night. They absolutely feed off such support and their enthusiasm for football is there all season long for everyone to see. Medals were presented to u/12 for B Championship and A Summer league success, u/16 for B Championship and due credit went to u/14 for reaching the semi-finals in both A Championship and A Summer League and our Minor Amalgamation with neighbours Colmcille for reaching the semi-final of the A Championship.
Certificates were presented to our ever growing u/10 Panel for 100% attendance at the Longford Blitzes and there was a glowing tribute to our Longford Junior Championship side and to one member of that panel who was also able to boast a Leinster Minor Shield medal. So all in all a more than satisfactory season. Now keep the good work up for next year ladies.
It was also nice to entertain the lads from their underage section to receive their medals and to be able to host the first of the club's Monthly Draw.
Annual Fuel Draw: We also launched our Fuel Draw on the night. This year sees more prizes added, with a chance to win one of six prizes valued at a total of €1,150.Tickets are now available in all local shops and from any member of our Ladies Club. Priced at €2 per ticket or a book of 3 for only €5,this represents good value for a chance to keep nice and warm this winter. The draw will take place on Sunday 8th January at 12.30 in the Dromard Clubrooms, when everyone is invited to attend to see the winners announced. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we appreciate all your support as we try to start the new season properly equipped to give the girls the best possible experience of Ladies GAA.
Dromard Ladies AGM: This will be held in the clubhouse on Mon 5th Dec at 9pm sharp. All parents and supporters are warmly invited and it is vital to get a good turnout so we can fill the committee positions for next year and put in place a good programme for the season that will allow our girls to keep developing. Please don't be shy and think you need to be invited to do a job. If you have the skills i.e. first aid, fundraising, catering, ticket selling or anything else where you think you can make a difference, please put yourself forward. These are all necessary jobs during the course of the year, and if people will volunteer it makes the jobs of our elected officers that much easier.
County Panels: The following managers have been ratified for our county panels next season:- Intermediate Manager (that's the Senior Girls) James Daly, Minor Manager Brian Noonan, U/16 Manager Dara McGann,U/14 Manager Enda Duncan and U/12 Managers (to prepare girls for the blitzes) Pat Tiernan and Damian Shannon. We wish them all good luck in the coming season, and we will keep you all informed about trials and training sessions as these are put in place. We do encourage all of you to try out for the County Panels, as not only will it improve you as a player it also improves our club panels.
Schoolgirls final: Held on a frosty and foggy Weds night under the lights in Slashers (a new experience) our national school in Dromard, St.Patricks put in a steely performance to overcome a dogged Newtonforbes national school on a scoreline of 2-7 to1-3. This is the first time a Div 1 Trophy has arrived in Dromard, and we thank the following teachers who put in great efforts to achieve this, namely Barry O;Rourke, Aoibhinn O'Neill and Harry Rock. We have a great working relationship with the school and the hard work put in by these teachers is reflected back into our own U/10 and U/12 panels who have had a very successful season. Long may it continue. Brianna Murphy won Player of the Match, and it is pleasing to note that the whole of the panel, with the notable exception of Niamh O'Brien who is a star player for St. Joseph's Aughvas, are all registered on the Dromard Panels. Team: Louise Tierney,Lauren Conboy,Rhiannagh Lennon,Orla McGauren,Siobhan Murphy,Brianna Murphy,Kate McEntire,Ellie Reynolds,Paige Robinson,Leah Duffy,Niamh O'Brien,Tamara Cosgrove,Alyssa McErlean,Kate O'Connor,Elena O'Reilly,Melanie Reilly,Naoise Hourican,Kate Waters,Emer Brady,Mariah Reilly,Ruth Gray,Niamh Corrigan,Caoimhe Kearney and Meadhbh Carbery.
