All Ireland Champions: Pride of place this week goes to Captain Mairead Reynolds and the Longford senior ladies team on their superb win over Antrim in the All Ireland Junior Final in Croke Park on Sunday last (25th September). Mairead led the team by example from the first whistle and became the first Dromard player to climb the Hogan Stand steps to lift an All Ireland trophy. Dromard's other representative on the starting team on Sunday was goalkeeper Michelle Kilkenny whose pinpoint kick-outs initiated many Longford attacks. Michelle Masterson was the third Dromard representative on the panel and all three now have the distinction of winning Longford and All Ireland Junior Championship medals in the same year. Congratulations to the panel and management and especially to the three Dromard representatives who deserve enormous credit for their commitment to the County Team and honour they've brought to their Club.

SF Championship Semi Final: Dromard exited the championship with a disappointing defeat to Abbeylara on Saturday evening (24th) in Pearse Park. Despite enjoying good spells of possession throughout the game, Dromard was unable to make this count on the scoreboard and trailed the eventual winners from start to finish. Abbeylara led by 3 points to 1 at half time, with Cian Mimnagh getting the Dromard score. The same player scored Dromard's second point from play after half time with Francis McGee on the mark with three points from frees and a 45. Although Dromard got to within a point of Abbeylara mid way through the second half, a series of missed chances proved costly. Good luck to Abbeylara in the County Final. Team: Gavin McNerney, Peter Masterson, Niall Vance, David Pettit, Peter Reynolds, Pauric Martin, Paul McGee, Diarmuid Masterson, Bernard Sheridan, Michael Reilly, Francis McGee, Cian Mimnagh, John Sheridan, Ross McNerney, Declan Mimnagh. Substitutes: James Martin, Emmet Masterson, James Mimnagh, Kevin Donohoe, Peter Mimnagh.

Lotto results: The lotto results for 19/09/2016. The numbers drawn were: 10, 11, 19, 26. There was no jackpot winner. The €20 draw winners were: B. McCabe, Mary Ellen Gray and G. O'Neill. The sellers' prize was won by Gerry Mimnagh. Next week's jackpot is €2,000.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Congratulations: To the Longford Ladies panel and their management team on a top class performance at Croke Park in the All Ireland Junior Final. After seeming somewhat nervous of the game in the first 20 minutes and trailing at one stage by 8 points, it seemed the writing could have been on the wall. However these girls are made of sterner stuff and eventually got into their stride and had narrowed the deficit somewhat by the halfway stage. Whatever was said in the dressing room had great effect and they returned to the fray all guns blazing once they had overhauled Antrim they never looked back and went on to a win that even the most ardent supporter had felt might be beyond them after the first quarter of the match. Dromard Ladies Club would just like to say thanks to you all for giving an excited coach load of our girls, not to mention all those that travelled independently to meet with us in Dublin,a fantastic day out. The smiles on the bus home said it all.

Birthdays: Good Wishes to Gemma Reilly turning 15 this week, Lauren Holloway turning 14, and two girls from our U/10 panel Niamh Corrigan who will be 10 and Sarah Buchanan who will be 8. Best wishes to you all from the club and enjoy your celebrations.

Skills Training: The club will be running a six week skills training course for all age groups, with the emphasis on ball work and tackling, starting in the middle of October. Laura will text out all the details in due course direct to parents. There will be no notification in the paper as this correspondent will be on holiday now for 3 or 4 weeks, and consequently there will be no Ladies Notes. So keep an eye on your phones for all the latest updates.

Congratulations to Cornafean on winning the Junior Football Championship on Sunday last.  Also, to Fostra & Castlepollartd native Joseph Rabbitt who was on the Castletown-Finea-Coole-Whitehall team who won the Westmeath Junior Championship.
