Emmet Og club notes

September 26, 2016

We must start off this week by congratulating the Longford senior ladies team and management on their remarkable achievement last Sunday in Croke Park when capturing the All Ireland Title. Particularly well done to our own two girls Ann Marie Bratten and lady of the Match Jacinta Brady who were both excellent throughout. Their victory was well deserved but looked very unlikely midway through the first half. However showing true grit and determination the girls stuck to their task to emerge victorious. Well done again ladies and enjoy the celebrations.

On Sunday last our intermediate B team put in a very gritty performance to overcome a strong Abbeylara team in the semi final of the championship and have now qualified for the championship final on County final day. Well done to team and management.

Our juvenile team also captured the championship crown on Saturday last with a fine victory over Longford Slashers. Well done to management and team.

We have  a massive day ahead this coming Sunday on the sporting fields. First up a our senior men are away to Abbeylara in their final Division 1 game with us just needing a point to claim the division 1 title. However we know we will get nothing handy n Abbeylara. This promises to be a great game with throw in at 12pm.

Next up our senior ladies open their leinster championship campaign with a home game against Louth champions Stabannon Parnells. Throw in at Emmet Park is at 2pm.

Finally our minor team contest the minor championship final at 4.15pm in Pearse Park against Western Gaels. We wish all 3 teams the best of luck in these games.

Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night in the Olde Forge and the numbers drawn were 2, 19, 24 and 26. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Liz Sorohan, Michael Lynch, Clonrollagh, Sean Feeney, Corlea, Jim Hanley and Kieran O Brien, Newtownforbes. This weeks sellers prize went to Jim McGoldrick. Next week sees the jackpot rise to the round figure of €4,000  with the draw in Begleys on Sunday night next.

Finally we offer or sympathies to the family of Noel Mcloughlin, Soran upon his recent death. May his sole rest in peace.
