Dromard Club Notes

Dromard GAA Launches Monthly Special Draw: Dromard GAA have had a very successful Members Annual Lotto Subscription for the past two years, with over 230 people subscribed. However, quite a number of the subscribers have expressed a preference to move to a Draw that would have guaranteed monthly winners. With this in mind we are launching a Monthly Members Draw which will take place on the first Monday of each month starting on Monday 7th of November 2016.

A guaranteed €800 will be given away in each monthly draw, 1st Prize of €500 and 3*€100 prizes. This means there will be 48 winners over the 12 months of the year. The Annual subscription cost for this draw is €100 with the option of an upfront payment by cash or cheque, standing order of €100 annually or €25 per quarter year or by online payment on www.iregister.ie/DromardGAA.

In addition to entry to the monthly draws to win the cash prizes, subscribers will also enjoy: (1). 2017 Membership of Dromard GAA, (2) Access to the Weekly and Monthly Newsletter and (3) Entry into Draw for All- Ireland Hurling and Football final tickets.

Club reps will be calling door-to-door over the next number of weeks, but if you wish to join please contact any Club member. The Club would like to thank our Members and Friends for their continued support.

St Francis Dromard Minor Club Notes

Junior Cert Results: Congratulations to all of our players who received their JC results last week. No doubt you were all very happy with them after all the hard work.

U16 Semi-Final: Hard luck to our u16 players and management who suffered a very narrow defeat on Friday last. Despite the result the team can be very proud of their achievements this year, especially with their Leinster final appearance. Thank you to all players and management for their efforts all year.

Minor Club Fundraiser: The minor club will be holding our big fundraiser for this year on Friday the 30th Oct and Saturday 1st of September in Dunnes Stores, Longford. If you are available on either date between the hours of 10am - 6pm we would be very grateful for any help offered. Slots are of 2 hours duration and any funds raised would greatly benefit our club and young players. Please contact Peter Cosgrove or Gavin McNerney if you are available to lend a hand.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Results and Fixtures: The only team now left flying the flag is our Minor Panel (amalgamated again this year with our good friends from up the hill in Colmcille). Amalgamations can sometimes be tricky to manage, but just like last year, the two clubs have gelled well together. Under the watchful eye of Niamh and Mairead and the Colmcille trio of Shay and Nadine McKeon and Maeve O'Reilly they are gradually making progress and the spirit in the panel is evident for all to see. Sunday however saw their second defeat in the Championship away to Clonguish on a scoreline of 6-7 to 1-4.Yet with 4 matches still to be played there is still time to make an impact, and although the girls are finding the A championship a lot harder than last year's B championship, they are definitely rising to the challenge and they are showing improvement week on week. We have a bye next weekend, but battle is renewed on Sun 2nd Oct when Rathcline are the visitors to Pairc Na Gael.

Church Gate Collection: A big thank you to everybody who gave so generously at our annual church gate collection. It is much appreciated and your contributions will certainly be put to good use next season as we endeavour to bring through the next generation of lady footballers in Dromard.

All Ireland Ladies Final: Mark down in your diaries and see below as we wish Good Luck to Longford Ladies, and our very own Mairead Reynolds, Michelle Kilkenny and Michelle Masterson who are on that panel as they seek to beat Antrim on Sun 25th Sept in the All Ireland Junior Championship Final.

Bus to the Ladies Final: As in previous years we shall be running a bus to Croke Park for Finals Day on Sun 25th Sept leaving Pairc Na Gael at 08 30am sharp. Please be at the grounds by 08.15am to ensure a prompt departure. The difference this year to other years is that we will have a team to cheer on when we get to Dublin!!! Because of our 3 girl's involvement on this panel, tickets are flying and the bus is almost full, so if you still wish to come and be part of the day contact Laura, Imelda or Bernie immediately to book your seat. If we are over subscribed, Colmcille are also running a bus and Barbara Jones says there may be a possibility of sharing their bus. Rest assured we will do our utmost to make sure that everone who wants to go, can go but we do need you to confirm your child's seat asap. There are also still some adult tickets available, so if travelling on a bus with 40 excited and noisy girls is your thing then don't hesitate to contact any of the above.

Birthday Greetings: None to report, but we understand Roisin Kiernan enjoyed her 18th Celebrations in the Glenview on Sat evening.
