Emmet Og club notes

May 16, 2016

It was with the deepest sadness we learned on Monday last of the untimely death of Mary Burns, Newtownbond, Rip. Mary is mother to one of our finest and best ever established senior goal keepers, Cillian and wife of Mossie. Mary was also a very fine former treasurer of our minor club and one of our greatest supporters over many years, painting a familiar face in the corner of the stand behind the town goal in Pearse Park, on the sidelines in Emmet Park or where ever we found ourselves playing. She was very vocal in her support, and particularly helpful to many generations of young people in our parish over the years. To Mossie, Cillian and her extended family we extend our deepest sympathies.

Our reserve 1 team were in action on Saturday evening at home to Abbeylara and unfortunately recorded our first loss in this competition. Hard luck to all involved. Commiserations also to the Longford senior team n their Leinster championship exit on Sunday to Offaly.

This coming weekend our junior team are away to Granard on Saturday evening at 7pm. Our senior team are at home to Dromard on Sunday at 2.30pm. Good luck to both.

Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night and the numbers drawn were 4,7,9 and 10. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Philip Sheridan, Aughaboy, Sharon Donnolly, Cloncoose, Betty Donaldson, Ballinalee, Cathy Casey, Ballymahon and Sean Igoe, Kelleter. This weeks sellers prize went to Frank Toher.Next week sees the jackpot rise to €2,100. Thanks again to all who support our lotto on a week by week basis.

Finally congratulations to Rosie and Mark McGoldrick, Ennybegs who got married at the weekend. We wish them many happy years together.
