Rathcline Club Notes

November 09, 2015

Division 1 Promotion/Relegation Final Replay - After a wonderful season for the club Friday night topped it off as we won promotion back to Division 1. In a tough game in Killoe on Saturday night against Fr. Manning Gaels we eventually came out winners by a point with a score line of 0-13 to 1-09. It was a very tight game with Fr. Manning Gaels up by a point at half time but we held our nerve towards the end and deservedly came out on top to win promotion. Well done to all our players, Gareth and his backroom team on a magnificent achievement for the season.
Patsy Reilly Cup Final - Our final game of a long season takes place on Friday night in Cashel at 8.30pm against Killashee as we compete for the Patsy Reilly Cup. We hope that we can finish the season in style with another cup. Best of luck to all involved. We would encourage all supporters to attend this final game of the season and show their appreciation for the team.
"Battle of the Bridge" White Collar Boxing - Next weekend is a huge weekend in Lanesboro and Ballyleague as we team up with St. Faithleach's again for a White Collar Boxing Weekend Special. On Friday November 13th there will be a kiddies disco from 7pm - 9pm. This will be followed by the band Shaken Edge who will perform from 10.30pm until late. Tickets are available for €8. Then the main event of the weekend takes place on Saturday night at 8pm as boxers from Rathcline and St. Faithleach's fight against each other in the white collar boxing. All locals are busy in training for the event and we can expect some good fight action on the night! Representing Rathcline will be Alan Farrell, Gerard Farrell, Sean Farrell, Ronnie Johnston, Eugene Maguire, James Hanley, Sean Lisle, Charlene Moloney, Ann Duffy, Michelle Carroll and Therese Kelly. Tickets for the event cost €15. On Sunday at 2pm will see a Tractor Run starting from St Faithleach's clubhouse. The route will include the Strokestown Rd, Longford Rd, Clonfower, Lehery, Thureen and Ballymahon Rd. Entry costs €15. This will be followed by evening entertainment from 6pm - 8pm by Matt Cunningham Ceili Band. Tickets are priced at €10. The whole weekend of entertainment will take place in a marquee in St. Faithleach's GAA Complex. Tickets are available in Joe O'Brien's and in Daybreak, Ballyleague. A combined ticket for Shaken Edge on Friday night and the White Collar Boxing on Saturday night can be purchased for €20. We would again ask everyone to support the events as it will be much needed funds for the two clubs and a weekend of entertainment to suit all tastes, not to be missed!
Intermediate team of season/player of year - The Longford Leader in conjunction with Longford GAA are holding a competition for Team of the Championship 2015 and Player of the Championship. With so many great performances from Rathcline players this year it would be great to have some of them on the team of the year and with a chance of winning player of the year. To vote, get your hands on the Leader for the last couple of weeks and for the coming week and fill out the voting form.  Entries must be received to the Leader by 5pm this Thursday November 12th.
50/50 Lotto Draw - Congratulations to Susan Rowan, C/O The Peer Inn, who was last week's winner of €388 in our 50/50 draw. The draw continues every Monday night at 9pm and envelopes only cost €2 and are available in all local businesses.
Yearly Subscription 50/50 - Our 50/50 draw which started a year ago has proved to be very successful. We have given away over €22,000 in prize money since the draw began. We are now giving people who live abroad or away from town the opportunity to be in with a chance of winning and supporting the club. A yearly subscription will include membership for the year along with a chance of winning an average weekly prize of €400. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Please contact any member of the executive or email us at [email protected] if you're interested in subscribing.
125th Anniversary Celebrations - As the club is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year there will a special concert held on Saturday December 12th in the parish hall celebrating the occasion with lots of local talent on show. Rehearsals are now on-going. The drama act on the night is called "The Dressing Room" and it's not to be missed!
Sympathies - The club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Denis McLoone, Ballyglass, who passed away last week after a long illness. Denis was very involved with St. Faithleach's ladies and was well known to all in Rathcline. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
