Emmet Og club notes

August 31, 2015

As championship fever builds around the county, this weekend was all about the league for Killoe as both our senior and junior teams were in action. On Friday evening our seniors took on Mostrim in Emmet Park, and fielding a very experimental side we found it hard to settle. However after some great displays by those chomping at the bit for a championship start we eventually ran out winners on a score of 4-11 to 7 points.

On Saturday evening our junior team took on Ardagh again in Emmet Park in perfect conditions. In a fast flowing game we held our nerve against a spirited and determined Ardagh team to record victory on  a score of 3-12 to 12 points.

This coming weekend sees both our juniors and seniors return to championship action with a double header of semi finals  in Pearse Park on Sunday evening. First up at 5pm our juniors face Longford Slashers in a repeat of last years final. This is followed by the senior game between Killoe and Dromard at 6.45p.m Unfortunately we enter both games as big underdogs and only a massive improvement on performances to date will see us through to the final in both codes. All support will be greatly appreciated, so please get into the park early and throw your voice behind the junior squad.

On Sunday last we hosted the championship quater final replay between Longford Slashers and Dromard in Emmet Park. This attracted one of the largest crowds ever seen in Emmet Park. Thankfully the event passed without incident due  to the dedicated volunteer work done by all stewards and marshals on duty. Thanks to all who assisted in any way in the running of this event, and thanks also to our neighbours for the use of their grounds for carparking, etc.

Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night in Begley's bar and the numbers drawn were 15,17,21 and 24.There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Paddy Corrigan, Esker, Pat Kelly, Ferefad,  Gene Caherly, Killoe, Willie Brown, Esker and Bridget Corrigan/Nicole Rowley, Killoe. This weeks sellers prize went to Emmet Toher. Next weeks jackpot rises to €5,300 with the draw in The Olde Forge on Sunday night.  Thanks again to all who support our lotto.
