Championship Action: This coming weekend sees both our junior and senior panels involved in key knock-out championship games. In the senior championship, Dromard take on Longford Slashers this Saturday evening (22nd August) in Pearse Park at 7:15pm. With the teams having met on numerous occasions in the latter stages of the championship in recent years, this promises to be another closely contested encounter. Good luck to the panel and management. Our junior panel are also in quarter final action this weekend with a home game against neighbours Fr Manning Gaels on Sunday (23rd August). Please see fixtures for details. We encourage all Dromard supporters to come to Pearse Park and Pairc na nGael for these crucial fixtures this weekend.
Junior Championship: Dromard 4-14 Rathcline 1-5. Our junior team progressed to the quarter final of the championship when they overcame Rathcline at Pairc na nGael on Sunday last. In a game played in ideal weather conditions, Dromard got off to the perfect start with an excellent Peter Mimnagh point from play, followed in the next attack by a goal from Fergal Berry. At halftime, Dromard led by 1-7 to 3 points and could have been further ahead but for some wayward passing. Dromard started the second half in determined fashion with Noel Reynolds and Neill Cosgrove winning some good possession at midfield. Conor Duffy scored Dromard's second goal in the 7th minute of the half and some fine point-taking by Bryan McCormack saw Dromard extend their lead. Two goals late in the game from Peadar Kiernan and Peter Mimnagh sealed the win and a place in the last eight of the competition. The Dromard lineout versus Rathcline was as follows: Oisin Hourican, Ronan Smith, Cathal Conefrey, Conor Duffy, Brendan McLoughlin, Martin McGee, Alan McLoughlin, Noel Reynolds, Neill Cosgrove, Fergal Berry, Peadar Kiernan, Sean McNerney, Bryan McCormack, Peter Mimnagh, John McNaboe.
