Senior Championship: Dromard 0-16 Fr Manning Gaels 1-6. Well done to the senior team who made a winning start in this year's championship with a hard-fought win over neighbours Fr Manning Gaels at Emmet Park on Saturday evening last. Dromard started the game brightly and opened up a 5 points to 2 lead 20 minutes into the first half. An excellent goal by Fr Manning Gaels evened up the scoring and a further exchange of points saw the teams go in level at half-time, 0-6 to 1-3. There was little between the sides in the early stages of the second half, however, Dromard gradually began to make more use of their possession and added points from Ross McNerney, Cian Mimnagh ,Declan Mimnagh and Peter Reynolds to claim the win. In the next round to be played this coming weekend, Dromard were drawn to play Ballymahon. The game will be played this coming Sunday (26th) at 5:15pm at Higginston. Please support the team as we aim build on the performance against Fr Manning Gaels. Thanks to the supporters who turned out in wet conditions on Saturday evening. Best wishes to Peter Masterson who picked up an injury during the first half of the game. The Dromard line-out from Saturday was as follows: Gavin McNerney, Peter Masterson, John Sheridan, Paul McGee, David Pettit, James Mimnagh, Niall Vance, Diarmuid Masterson, Ronan McEntire, Ross McNerney, James Martin, Bernard Sheridan, Declan Mimnagh, Peter Reynolds, Cian Mimnagh. Subs: Emmet Masterson, Padraig Martin, Michael Reilly.
Junior Championship:  The junior championship commences this weekend with Dromard taking on Mostrim at home in Pairc na nGael at 4:45pm on Saturday evening (25th July). This is the first of three games in the group stages of this competition. The Dromard panel has a good blend of younger players and more experienced campaigners and will be hoping to get the championship off to a winning start. The management team for this competitions is Gerry Sheridan, Peter Mimnagh Senior, Con McLoughlin, and Aidan Gray. Your support at the weekend would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers Required: This Saturday evening (25th July) we will be hosting a double header of Senior Championship games at Pairc Na nGeal. First up is Mostrim v Clonguish at 6:15pm, followed by our neighbouring clubs, Fr Manning Gaels v Colmcille at 7:45pm. The two senior championship games are preceded by Dromard's junior championship tie against Mostrim (4:45pm). It is very important that the occasion is well stewarded, so a large number of volunteers will be required to marshal the event. Even if you can only give an hour to the event, it is very important that we get a large response and we will then set up a schedule. Please contact either chairman 086 8097547 or Secretary 086 6041980. Also additional parking spaces may be required around the facility. Thanks to all in advance for you cooperation to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Monthly Club Meeting: The July monthly club meeting will be held on Wednesday 29th of July. There are a number of important issues to address. Please support.
Supporters Jerseys and Shorts: Anyone wishing to order their own supporters club jerseys, shorts or socks, for themselves, their kids, or for gifts for those living away from home, please phone or email the secretary Dermot Reilly ([email protected] ) or treasurer, Frank Smith ([email protected] ) before the last day of the month, July the 31st, and give names and sizes required, as the final order will be placed then. It may not be possible to order jerseys after that date as these are custom made, also the club has no plans to provide a stock to local shops, so please get in contact and place your own order.
Congrats to Leitrim Ladies: A big congratulations to the Leitrim Ladies and their manager Pat Costello on winning the TG4 Connacht Ladies Intermediate Championship Final recently. Dromard GAA have had a close association with the Leitrim Ladies in recent years as they have been using our facilities during their off season and so it is great to see them doing so well and accomplishing so much. Well done to all involved.
Annagh Pool Swimming Lessons: The annual swimming lessons at Annagh Lake swimming pool take place for two weeks from Monday 20th July. Adult classes are held in the evening and all classes are given by qualified instructors. This is a wonderful facility for the parish and it is great to see the success of the annual swimming lessons continuing. Your support again this year is much appreciated.
