Division 3: Dromard 2-11 Longford Slashers 4-14: Our Division 3 team took on Longford Slashers in Pairc Na nGael on Friday evening last in the final game of this year's league campaign. Longford Slashers got off to a flying start with an early goal and led by 1-5 to 2 points mid way through the first half. Danny Petit pulled off a great save in the early stages to prevent Dromard falling further behind. A fine goal from Gary Maguire following good work by Peter Mimnagh brought Dromard back into the game, with the team trailing by just 4 points at the break. On the resumption, Dromard enjoyed their best phase of the game and reduced the margin to just a single point mid way through the second half. A great catch and run down the centre of the field by Noel Reynolds created the opening for Gary Maguire to score a second Dromard goal and this was followed by an excellent point from play by Peadar Kiernan. With Longford Slashers more clinical in finishing their goal-scoring scoring chances, they pulled away in the final stages of the game. Nonetheless, this was a good hard-working performance by Dromard in advance of the junior championship commencing shortly. Team: Danny Petit: Thomas Conefrey, Ronan Smith, James Conefrey, Padraig McNerney, Michael Reilly, Alan McLoughlin, Neil Cosgove, Noel Reynolds, Niall McManus, Peadar Kiernan, John McNaboe, Gary Maguire, Peter Mimnagh, Patrick Mimnagh. Subs: Martin McGee, Brendan McLoughlin.
