Leinster MFC: McCabe's goal decisive

June 27, 2015

Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford.

Longford 1-9
Meath 0-8

Longford booked their place in this year's Leinster MFC final courtesy of a four point win over visitors Meath at Glennon Bros Pearse Park today.

Cathal McCabe netted the game's only goal in the 7th minute and that score separated the teams at the end of a low-scoring first-half - Longford 1-3, Meath 0-3.

Tony Devlin's side dominated the third quarter but were guilty of kicking three wides in a row and should have led by more than four points with 14 minutes to go.

The Royals' peserverance was rewarded when they drew level with 55 minutes gone on the clock but, to their credit, the hosts responded by hitting four points without replay to seal a deserved victory.

A Conor Berry point initiated the late surge and the midlanders await the winners of tomorrow's second semi-final between Dublin and Kildare in the decider on July 12th.
