Manager Francis McNamee was disappointed but proud after the Longford U21s ran Dublin all the way.

The midlanders gave the defending All-Ireland champions a real fright in last week's Leinster U21 FC semi-final in Navan and McNamee told The Longford Leader afterwards:

"It is very disappointing to lose. We kept it low key, had a low profile build-up and genuinely believed we could cause an upset. For long periods of the game we were there or thereabouts.

"But when all is said and done Dublin have great strength in depth. I am very proud of the lads and what they did. I could not have asked for anything more.

"Dublin finished strong and are conditioned from a young age and they were flying in the end in pulling away in the last ten minutes. We matched them for long periods of the game but were not able to stay with them for the full 60 minutes."
