Manager Francis McNamee insists Longford will not be making up the numbers against Dublin in their All-Ireland U21 FC semi-final.

The in-form midlanders, who have enjoyed thumping victories over Wicklow and Louth en route to the last four, will face the holders in Navan next Wednesday night:

"Dublin are the All-Ireland champions and a team that are favourites for Leinster and the All-Ireland again, backboned by a number of senior players," McNamee notes in The Longford Leader.

"Make no mistake, we are not going into that match to make up the numbers. We are going there to give ourselves every opportunity of being in contention for a place in the Leinster final and compete to the best of our ability.

"We have won nothing. We are in a Leinster semi-final and it's good to be there. This is the next stage and that is the way we look at it. We need to step it up and are under no illusions of the size of the major task ahead."
