Longford under-21 footballers begin their Leinster championship campaign with a clash against Wicklow on Wednesday night.
Pairc Chiaran, Newtowncashel is the venue for this clash which throws in at 7.30pm and Longford are favourites to advance to the next round.
The Hastings Cup may not have gone the way that Longford planned, but there is still a great deal of confidence in the side.
The winners of Wednesday night's game take on either Louth or Carlow in what will be another home tie for the Midlanders.
Longford manager Francis McNamee has been working hard with the squad over the last few weeks and all preparation for this opening game has been done.
