Colmcille GFC Notes

January 26, 2015

The Club AGM took place on Sunday 25th January in the Community Centre. Attendance was approximately 50. The Chairman and Secretaries reports focused on thanking all those work hard for the club on and off the pitch throughout the year. We look forward to refocusing our efforts and getting behind Ciaran Brady and his team for 2015. Selectors for 2015 are Francie Mulligan and Declan Reilly with Andy McKeon also joining the management team.

Club Person of the year for 2014 was Niall Brady with Player of the year award going to Barry McKeon. Congratulations to both and thanks for the commitment and dedication to the club.

The outgoing treasurer Leigh Mckeon outlined the financial standing of the club. This highlights the ongoing difficult task of balancing the books on a year to year basis. To this end we thank all those who contributed to our various fundraisers throughout the year. These, together with our weekly Lotto are the financial lifeblood of the club and allow us to support all our teams and try to develop the club infrastructure.

Club Membership of €30 is now payable for 2015. It can be paid to any member of the executive. We also have €100 Annual Lotto Subscriptions available which entitles the subscriber to weekly entry to our Lotto draw for the Jackpot which currently stands at €4500.

The 40th Anniversary Mass for Fr Phil McGee on Saturday last was a great success and credit must go to the organising committee including Benny Reid and former teachers of Moyne CS. The club were delighted to help out by organising refreshments afterwards in the Community Centre. Thanks to Nathan Brady for his superb rendition of Tom Murtaghs' poem in memory of Fr Phil. The club would also like to thank the car parking stewards, sandwich makers, all who helped out in the setting up the community centre and all who helped out on the day. It was a strong community event and the efforts were recognised by all in attendance.

Votes of Sympathy were passed at the recent executive meeting with the families of Seamus (Hank) Smith Glenmore, Molly Kiernan Polladoey, Brian O Reilly Corrickadorish, Peter Kiernan Cornadrung, Martin Cadden Loughduff and Ita McKeon Smear. May they rest in peace.
